21kg of cannabis, 12 plants found in vacant home

POLICE are trying to track down the occupants of a house that was found filled with marijuana in Newcastle.

Officers stormed the vacant home on Teralba Road at Broadmeadow about 11.15am on Friday and allegedly found 12 cannabis plants and more than 21kg of the drug that had been dried out.

A large amount of steroids, ketamine and hydroponic equipment was also seized from the home. No one was home at the time of the raid.

Police also allegedly identified unmetered electricity sources being used to power the hydro lights in order to grow the cannabis.

A crime scene was established and the house forensically examined.

Investigations have commenced, and inquiries continue.
