85yo man charged after police find meth, guns during raid

AN elderly Queensland man has been charged with a string of drugs and weapons offences after police raided his home on the Sunshine Coast.

Police searched the property on Okinja Road in Alexandra Headland just after 9.20am yesterday, seizing four firearms, ammunition, cash and quantities of cannabis oil and methylamphetamine.

The 85-year-old was taken into custody and charged with two counts of possessing dangerous drugs, one count each of trafficking dangerous drugs, producing dangerous drugs and supplying dangerous drugs.

He was also hit with the charges of unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of explosives, possessing relevant substances or things, supplying relevant substances or things and possessing anything for use in the commission of a crime.

The elderly man is due to appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court today.
