A stormy night ahead of a stormy day in SE Qld

1.00AM: THUNDERSTORMS are sweeping across the southeast ahead of a severe storm outbreak tipped for Thursday.

At 12:25am, severe thunderstorms with damaging winds and heavy rainfall were forecast to affect Rosewood, Hatton Vale and Marburg by 12:55am and Ipswich, Lowood and Fernvale by 1:25am.

At 12.47am, the BoM said the immediate threat of severe thunderstorms had passed, but the situation would continue to be monitored and further warnings would be issued if necessary.

Storms may spread into thundery rain areas over the Gold Coast tonight before potentially damaging thunderstorms develop during Thursday with between 10-30mm of rain tipped to fall.
