Hawthorn star Tom Mitchell is likely to miss the entire 2019 season after breaking his leg at training on Friday.
The Brownlow medalist is believed to have been in the middle of a tackling drill when he suffered the blow.
The club confirmed the news in a statement a short time ago.

“For Tom to suffer an injury like this is incredibly disappointing for both him and our footy club,” GM Football Graham Wright said.
It’s understood the 25-year-old will undergo surgery before beginning rehabilitation.
“He will undergo surgery over the weekend and as a result will most likely miss the 2019 season,” Mr Wright said.
“However, Tom is a very resilient young man and we have no doubt that he will tackle his rehab with the same professionalism and diligence with which he approaches his training.”
Unfortunately the rumours are true. 😢
