Alleged drug driver charged over horror Gold Coast crash

A 22-year-old man has been charged over a shocking crash on a busy roundabout at Nerang earlier this year.

The accident happened at the intersection of McLaren Road and Oakdale Avenue about 8.00pm on Friday, May 11.

Police allege the man was driving a white ute, with four passengers onboard and whilst under the influence of drugs and alcohol, when he has ‘drifted’ around the roundabout.

He’s then allegedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll.

Following investigations, officers this morning charged a 22-year-old Carrara man with one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle and adversely affected by an intoxicating substance and mid-range drink driving.

He’s due to appear at the Southport Magistrate’s Court on October 8.
