Armed man on the run after attempting to rob Sydney CBD bank

A man armed with a knife is on the run in Sydney’s CBD after attempting to rob the Commonwealth Bank in broad daylight.

Police have swarmed on the bank which is on the corner of Market St and Castlereagh St and are patrolling surrounding areas.

The brazen thief remains on the run.

The bank is expected to remain closed for the rest of the day.

The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, in his mid 30s, and wearing dark clothing.

As the man may still be armed, officers are urging anyone who knows the man’s whereabouts, not to approach him, but contact Triple Zero (‘000’) immediately.
