Surfers Paradise will rock'n'roll in jumpsuits, black leather, flared pants and blue suede shoes this weekend for the Elvis birthday Bash tribute festival.

The three day festival will feature an Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Competition, a beach cinema showing 'Clambake' and 'Blue Hawaii' and an Elvis photography exhibition.

Festival Organiser David Johnstone said competition entrants have come from all over the country.

"We've got 13 of the best ETA's (Elvis Tribute Artists) competing in the contest and the winner will get a trip to Memphis to compete in the World Final in August," he said

"They are not impersonator's... they are tribute artists, so it doesn't matter what gender they are, what colour their skin is, or what country they are from."

Entrants will sing and score points in different rounds, with the winner announced after the third round on Sunday night.

Competition entrant Rosario Mancini has been an Elvis Tribute artist for almost 4 years and travelled up from Sydney to compete.

"I love all of Elvis Songs, but my favourite is 'You Gave me a Mountain" which I will be singing," he said.

"Of course I am hoping to win but it will be stiff competition."

Elvis' tour manager and official photographer Ed Bonja has been called in as one of the judges.

He will showcase a 150 piece exhibition called 'Images of the King' at the Mantra Legends Hotel throughout the festival.

"Elvis, as popular as he was and still is, always worried that if he died, would people still remember him," he said.

"If he is somewhere up there looking down, he's got to be laughing."

The Elvis Birthday Bash is the the first Elvis event in Australia to earn the official stamp of approval from Elvis Presley Enterprises, which is the authorised custodians of the iconic singers legacy.
