Six Gold Coast bands have been selected to perform at the Big Day Out music festival this Sunday.

Alone With Wolves, Red Spencer, Fairchild Republic, Pirates Alive, Loustar and Stellar Green were selected from 118 bands who applied to the A-Venue showcase program.

The program is a joint initiative between Gold Coast City Council and Arts Queensland to assist emerging musicians with their careers by providing access to business and management skills training, mentoring, production facilities, and links to entertainment events.

Fairchild Republic’s Adam Lyons said it was a massive surprise for the band.

“I thought it was a joke. It is a massive opportunity and privilege for a Gold Coast band to play at Big Day Out,” he said.

Chair of Community and Cultural Development, Bob La Castra, said it was fantastic to see Big Day Out continue to provide performance opportunities for local musicians.

“To give up and coming bands the chance to play at major events like Big Day Out with potential audiences of 55,000 is a tremendous opportunity,” he said.

Big Day Out is on this Sunday 22 January at Parklands Showgrounds. For more information, or to buy tickets, Click Here!
