More than 100 Gold Coasters have been left jobless after two companies shut down some of their operations here.

FX Corp had recently hired at least 50 people to work at their Bundall call centre but have since closed up shop - leaving staff out of work.

According to the Gold Coast Bulletin, the Queensland Police and Fair Trading are investigating the company.

Meantime more than 50 Gold Coast Airport workers have lost their jobs after a nine-year Virgin Blue contract  with Oceania Aviation wasn't renewed.

Instead the contract was awarded to a Brisbane-based film, Aerocare, making almost a third of their workforce redundant.
