UPDATED: There's been very little support for calls for the planned development at Tipplers to be scrapped.

Councillor Susie Douglas had made the demand but only five voted to repeal the council decision yesterday. 

The popular boaties stop-over was shut down after the council bought it for $7 million in 2009 and has remained in limbo.

Last year council narrowly approved a plan for Tipplers, including a licensed cafe and barbecue areas, after Mayor Ron Clarke used his casting vote.

Marine Action Group spokesman Keith Douglas says the rescission motion is what the community wants.

"The council's proposal does not deliver what the people want and it's destined to fail," he said.

The site on South Stradbroke Island could end up getting a licensed cafe, a barefoot bar.  Wet areas could also be introduced with Councillors asking for a report to consider that by February 14.
