Local boaties are maintaining their fight against Gold Coast City Council's plan for Tipplers.
They held a protest meeting on Friday, in a last ditch attempt to convince Council to dump its vision for the South Straddie icon and instead allow a "community driven" master plan.
Last month, a majority of councillors rejected that move from Surfers rep Susie Douglas, instead conceeding a 'Barefoot Bar' be added to the blueprint.
But the Marine Action Group claims a leaked email from CEO Dale Dickson shows it's just a temporary move to appease locals, proposing it only stay open for three years.
Group Spokesperson Keith Douglas said it was too important a destination for things to be dealth with behind closed doors and without consultation.
"The Marine industry is a big part of the Gold Coast economy and Tipplers brought people from Ipswich and Brisbane and they're not coming anymore," he said.
"It's very important for tourism and business on the Gold Coast that Tipplers becomes a boating destination again."
Amanda Lake, who's created the 'Our Tipplers' blueprint said it was about social justice.
"People have family traditions of going to Tipplers every weekend; it was economical and affordable," she said.
"I didn't have a boat, I used to hitch a road and take the kids. We'd have a bowl of chips, a swim and the kids would try and feed a wallaby."
