UPDATE 4pm: Motorists are being urged to take care when driving today and to plan their travel routes.

Many Gold Coast roads have been closed due to flooding.

ROBINA - Robina Town Centre Drive
YATALA - Old Pacific Highway
MUDGEERABA - Berrigans Road, Gunsynd Drive, Hardys Road, Somerset Drive
CLAGIRABA - Heritage Drive, Clagiraba Road (Coomera River Causeway)
TALLEBUDGERA VALLEY - Araluen Road, Daltons Road, Mt Cougal Road, Trees Road, Tallebudgera Creek Road (past Dickfos Road)
CURRUMBIN - Currumbin Creek Road (Dolans Crossing Park)
REEDY CREEK - Reedy Creek Road Service Road
GUANABA - Birds Road, Billiau Road, Piggotts Road, Guanaba Creek Road
MERRIMAC - Highfield Drive
WONGAWALLAN - Upper Ormeau Road, Wongawallan Road
OXENFORD - Tamborine-Oxenford Road

There is also water over the road on the M1 at Exit 66 and Exit 85.

Traffic authorities are asking motorists to take alternative routes or stay at home if travel is not necessary.

Several Schools have closed due to poor access or flooding. Others are advising parents to keep their children at home.

The folowing schools are closed:

Springbrook State School
Darlington State School
Kings Christian College
St Andrews Lutheran
All Saints Anglican School

Robina State High and Beechmont State School are still open, but access is limited.

 Several beaches are also closed due to high tides and debris.

The beaches affected are at Main Beach, Sheraton, Burleigh, Northcliffe, Nobby, Miami, Tugun, Bilinga, Mermaid, Broadbeach, Kurrawa and Elkhorn.
