UPDATE 1:45 - Police divers have found the body of the man who fell into the water at Main Beach last night.

The 40 year old French tourist reportedly fell from the Fisherman's Wharf boardwalk into the broadwater at 8pm.

Water Police failed to find the man in a search last night as the water was too murky.

This morning Police Divers located his body on the sea bottom, directly under the spot he entered the water.

It is not known whether the man jumped or fell into the water, but is believed he had been drinking earlier in the evening.

A report is being prepared for the coroner.
