It's claimed, the trawler that smashed into rocks on the Tweed is leaking diesel into the water.
The vessel came into trouble around 5pm on Monday while trying to cross the Tweed bar.
The 54-foot boat was smashed by large waves and ended up hitting rocks near Duranbah Beach, just
north of the entrance to the Tweed River, before overturning and sinking.
The two men on board set off flares to attract the attention of rescuers, before jumping into the water.
They were assisted to shore by local surfers before being met by paramedics, with a 29-year-old man taken to hospital with chest and shoulder injuries and his mate, 33, treated for minor injuries.
It's now been revealed, thousands of litres of diesel has oozed into the water.
