Relocating the Gold Coast Show site could mean the end of the event, according to the Gold Coast Show Society.
The State Government is forcing the show to move to Carrara to allow an athletes village to be built at Parklands for the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
In a meeting today, the Gold Coast Show Society decided the proposed Carrara site has a lack of car parking, inadequate infrastructure and is prone to flooding.
Show President Peter Johnston said the move would also result in a financial shortfall for the non for profit organisation.
Premier Anna Bligh said a move to Carrara would benefit the show in the future.
"The Carrara site offers a strategic opportunitiy for the show to be co-located with a big stadium that can hold big events potentially associated with the show," she said
The Premier said Parklands was chosen for the Athletes Village as the precinct will benefit the area long after the games.
"The Parklands area is the absolute best place for the games village. It is located next to a hospital, next to the university and next to a rapid transport stop," she said.
