The approval of a $600 million Surfers Paradise development is expected to create more job opportunities on the Coast.
Construction of the four-building, high-rise development at the current site of Paradise Resort is tipped open up over 750 new positions,
Chair of City Planning, Councillor Ted Shepherd, said the latest approvals were excellent news for the city.
“The Ferny Avenue project, comprising four stages, is a significant development for Surfers Paradise and means we’ll be seeing cranes on the skyline again, which have always been an outward symbol of the state of the city’s economy,” he said.
Stage One work is due to begin at the end of the year and will involve the construction of a 30-storey residential building.
The remaining three towers will be built over the next 10 years.
Plans for a 96 apartment development in Helensvale were also recommended for approval.
Council has also given approval for 96 apartments to be built in Helensvale.
