Arts Centre Gold Coast are continuing their 25th birthday celebrations with the opening of the Sons of Beaches '72 Exhibition this weekend.

Coinciding with the 2012 Quicksilver Pro and the inaugural Bleach Festival of Surf Culture, the Sons of Beaches ’72 exhibition features a surf documentary and installation that examines the development of surfing in the 1970s.

The exhibition will also hold Sundays on the Couch sessions, where visitors can hear surfing industry professionals talk about their personal experience from the 1972 world titles.

Arts Centre Gold Coast Marketing Manager Sue-Anne Chapman said she was delighted to feature the exhibition as the centre's next feature event.

‘The Gold Coast is the perfect location for an exhibition such as this and we look forward to welcoming Gold Coast locals and visitors to the centre to enjoy this showcase of Australian surfing history’, she said.

The Sons of Beaches ’72 documentary will screen every hour from 4 February to 18 March between 10am – 4pm.
