There could soon be another good reason to make a move to Worongary, with a development application granted Major Project Status.
Although the Pacific View Estate project is now considered a major project, the development is still being considered by Gold Coast Council.
If given the green light, the estate will accomodate up to 10,000 residents.
The development will also create 2700 jobs at the peak of construction and provide a $3.2 billion injection into the local economy.
Perron Group's Executive Director of Property Ian Armstrong said he was hopeful Gold Coast City Council will fast-track so construction can begin late this year.
“Our development has been officially recognised by the State as something that needs to happen sooner rather than later – there’s a distinct urgency," he said.
“Today’s announcement is certainly a major step forward for a city that would otherwise be struggling to meet its quite demanding future accommodation needs,” he said.
