The Christchurch City Council today showed its gratitude for the rescue efforts of Queensland Firies by presenting them with the Christchurch Earthquake Award.
This time last year, more than 140 Queensland Fire and Rescue Service staff were deployed to Christchurch to assist with rescue and recovery efforts following the devastating earthquake on February 22.
QFRS Deputy Commissioner Iain Mackenzie travelled to Christchurch for the award ceremony and said he was proud to accept the award on behalf of QFRS.
“The work these people undertook was professionally very rewarding and QFRS was happy to help our Christchurch neighbours during their time of need.”
