A lucky escape for a couple of fishermen after their boat overturned yesterday afternoon at Jumpinpin Bar.

Their boat engine reportedly failed, causing their vessell to later sink.

One of the men was picked up by a local fisherman who saw him drifting in his lifejacket.

The other man spent eight hours in the water before a recue mission, including the Gold Coast water police, the police chopper and a Volunteer Marine Rescue vessell, rescued him.

He was taken to Southport Hospital at around 10pm last night.

Both men are said to be ok, with one of them suffering from what's believed to be hypothermia.
