Mayor Tom Tate has launched a Facebook campaign to bring sprint star Usain Bolt to the Gold Coast.
After winning the 100 metre race at the Olympics, the Jamaican said he was looking to holiday in Australia later this year.
Mr Tate is calling on all residents to ‘like’ the Bring Bolt to the Beach photo on council’s Facebook page.
"A visit by Usain Bolt would showcase the Gold Coast as a holiday destination to an international audience and highlight the city's world class sports and training facilities ahead of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games,” he said.
The campaign was launched only hours after the Coast's very own sport star, Sally Pearson, won gold in the 110m hurdles.
Pearson is expected to join other local athletes at a major welcome home event next week.
