Gold Coast Tennis star Sam Stosur crashed out in the first round of the Australian Open yesterday.
The US Open champ and World Number 6 lost to Romania's Sorana Cirstea in straight sets 7-6 6-3.
"I'm probably very close to crying, having a really awful night," Stosur said.
"Certainly not the way that I wanted, not just this tournament but the whole summer together."
The 27-year-old admitted she struggles with the expectations of her local fans and was down on confidence when she arrived in Melbourne
"It's disappointing for sure, I know that everyone was behind me," she said.
"It's more disappointing obviously that I don't get another chance to step out on court."
Stosur was defeated in the second round of the Brisbane International and in the first round of the Apia Internation in Sydney earlier this month.
Match winner Sorana Cirstea said she had nothing to lose.
"Probably the whole country hates me right now," she told the crowd at Rod Laver Arena.
"I hope when you wake up in the morning you feel better about me."
