A last minute header from Bruno Cazarine was all it took for Sydney FC to leave Gold Coast United shattered.
It was a blow to United, who looked to have secured a draw until Cazarine knocked the ball passed Tyson one minute before full time.
Sydney finished up on 2 points, with Gold Coast managing just 1 on the scoreboard.
Gold Coast played with one of the youngest line-ups ever seen in the Hyundai A-League, with target man Dylan Macallister, midfielder Paul Beekmans and striker Maceo Rigters all out on injury.
The loss places Gold Coast United four points below Newscastle at the bottom of the ladder.
