Grom Surfer Jack Freestone proved a standout during round 3 of the Billabong World Junior championships yesterday.

The coolangatta local remains on track to defend his world junior crown, defeating up-and-comer Jack Robinson with a near perfect heat total of 18.00 points out of 20.00.

Freestone scored two huge 9 point waves midway through the Australia Day heat.

The Billabong ASP World Junior Championship is still on at Burleigh Heads with the finals held over the weekend.

The event features the top 45 Junior Men plus three wildcards and the top 17 Women plus one wildcard.
