Gold Coast Airport Marathon representatives Patrick Nispel and Deb Nicholl achieved exceptional results at the 19th annual Senshu International City Marathon in Osaka, Japan over the weekend.
Running his second marathon to date, Nispel clocked an impressive 2:26:33 and placed third male overall.
Deb Nicholl clocked 2:58:30 and placed fifth female overall, finishing a close six seconds behind the front runner.
Both runners battled with a string of injuries in the lead up to the Marathon.
Deb Nicoll said she was happy with her results despite running slower than her 2011 Gold Coast Airport Marathon time.
“I ran well up to the 19km mark and was on target to break 2:55:00, and then I struggled for quite a few kilometres with my injury, but ran a really great last 12 kilometres,” she said.
