Carlene and Robin are making a big splash in the business world as their store The Handcrafted Shop goes international.
The Handcrafted Shop is a one of a kind business, comprised of an entire community of crafters and designers across Australia and New Zealand coming together to sell their products in one place.
“We wanted to help support other stay at home mums who were struggling to balance earning an income, with crafting and raising their kids”, Mrs Hunt said.
Established last year, they offer a range of one of a kind clothing, jewellery, accessories, home wares, beautiful children’s toys and vintage goods.
The women saw a gap in the market for affordable, one-of-a-kind products and wanted to give other crafters an opportunity to earn an income whilst fulfilling their crafting passion.
One year after its creation, The Handcrafted Shop is an internationally recognised brand, with buyers across Canada and parts of Europe and sellers throughout Australia and New Zealand.
“The Handcrafted Shop is a community, through our business we have not only connected with others who share our passion for crafting but we have found a way to help other families”, Mrs Smith said.
The Handcrafted Shop has been nominated in two categories, the Judged Category for Emerging AusMumpreneur and People’s choice category for Handmade Award.
Public voting closes for the 2014 AusMumpreneur Awards closes on October 6 and winners will be announced at the glamorous dinner in Melbourne in late October.
