SOME of the world’s best swimmers are warming up this morning, with the Pan Pacifics Championships set to kick off at Southport Aquatic Centre tonight.
The event will kick off tonight with the women’s 100m backstroke, including Missy Franklin and Emily Seebohm.
The men’s 200m freestyle and 1500m freestyle are also on the event card, featuring locals Thomas Fraser-Holmes, Cameron McEvoy and Jordan Harrison.

All eyes have been on American Olympic superstar Michael Phelps, who’s set to make his return to international swimming at the 100m freestyle tomorrow night.
It follows an 18-months retirement from the pool following the London Olympics.
It’s tipped to be the hottest race of the event, featuring the top four swimmers from the World Championships.
Meanwhile, locals are being urged to avoid driving near the Aquatic Centre over the next few days.
Queensland Police is urging motorists travelling along the Gold Coast Highway from one end of the coast to the other to please use arterial roads like Ferry Road as there is some major traffic congestion around Marine Parade at Southport near the Centre.
