AUSTRALIAN cricket fans are celebrating after defeating India in the first Test at the Adelaide Oval.

The 48 run win was in front of a record fifth day crowd in the series opener, however was soured by another injury for captain Michael Clarke.

Clarke said he was disappointed to be injured, but was proud of the team’s performance after the sudden death of teammate Phillip Hughes.
“This series is even closer to our hearts,” he said.
“This first test match is one that we’ll remember and cherish for the rest of our careers, there’s no doubt about that.”
Shaun Marsh has been called to replace Clarke, who has ruled himself out of the second Test in Brisbane on Wednesday.
