AUSTRALIA has taken the win and a 2-1 lead against South Africa in the third ODI, with a 72 run victory in Canberra.
The Aussie side was punishing with both bat and ball. Opening batsman Aaron Finch smashed 109 from 127 and Steve Smith’s 72 not out off 55 balls drove the side to a venue-high score of 5-329.
The highlights for the Proteas came from Amlar and de Villiers. Hashim Amla made his first one-day international century against Australia, whilst AB de Villiers was at the top of his game knocking 52 off 34 balls, putting South Africa in the driving seat.

But their wickets sparked a collapse of 4-14, with Mitchell Starc (4-31) and Josh Hazlewood (3-51) steaming through the order.
Stand-in Australian skipper George Bailey’s men now head to Melbourne for Friday’s fourth ODI.
