Australia’s notorious postcard bandit granted parole

Notorious armed robber and prison escapee Brenden Abbott has reportedly been granted parole.

Abbott, known as the ‘postcard bandit’, was jailed for 25 years in the 1990s for a string of armed bank robberies across Queensland and two prison breaks.

The 53-year-old had made multiple pleas for release since becoming eligible for parole in 2011, however was knocked back every time.

Channel 7 reports the notorious criminal was today successful in his bid for parole, having served 17 years behind bars.
