Baby ‘critical’ after being left in hot car outside Victorian pub

A baby boy has been left fighting for life after allegedly being left in a hot car outside a pub in Melbourne.

Emergency services were called to Point Cook around 3.15pm on Wednesday after getting reports a baby had been left inside the vehicle for several hours while temperatures outside reached 33.6 degrees.

The 14-month old boy was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.

Victoria Police have confirmed a 32-year-old woman has since been charged with negligently causing serious injury and reckless conduct endangering life.

Officers are investigating allegations she may have been playing the pokies while the infant was in the car.

She was granted bail and will appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on January 23.
