The girl’s parents, a 23-year-old woman and 48-year-old man, were found about five kilometres away in Broadbeach after police were called to an alleged domestic violence incident.

They have since been arrested and are being questioned by detectives, however no charges have been laid.

At a press conference on Monday, Detective Inspector Marc Hogan confirmed that the couple were known to police.

It’s since come to light that the family were living in makeshift shelters near the beach where the baby was found.

Autopsy results, which will hopefully provide further insight into the infant’s death, are expected to be given to police today.
