A much-loved family dog named Vuk has been stabbed to death in the backyard of a home in Melbourne.
The horrific incident is understood to have happened earlier this week, at a house on Fifth Avenue in Dandenong.
It’s understood Vuk’s owner was getting ready for work when she noticed blood on the back patio. Soon after, she found her Maltese cross Jack Russell seriously injured in the backyard with “multiple stab wounds.”

Police said the woman placed the 11-year-old dog in the car to rush it to a vet, only to discover that her car tyre had also been slashed.
After making it to the vet a couple of hours later, sadly Vuk could not be saved and had to be put down.
Greater Dandenong Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the death.
