Proudly and passionately Gold Coast and deeply connected to place, Bleach* Festival continues to pay tribute to local legends past and present. In 2018, we are proud to present an expansive program of genre-defying events, spanning intimate gatherings in locals’ homes to some of our largest and most ambitious projects to date.
2018 is a transformational year for Bleach* Festival, with the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018) coming to our own backyard in April. We are delighted to be collaborating with Festival 2018, the GC2018 arts and cultural program, to put our local artists on the world’s stage through a series of events under the banner of Bleach* at Festival 2018. It will be a spectacular showcase of what, and who, makes the Gold Coast such a special part of the world.
Much like the world’s visiting athletes who will call the Gold Coast home for two weeks this April, we know that it’s only through clarity of vision, unrelenting individual spirit and collective muscle that we can achieve greatness. It seems only fitting in this landmark year to celebrate with our dearest friends and most loyal supporters, and we are thrilled to welcome back several long-time collaborators including Kyle Slabb, Everybody NOW!, The Farm and more than 50 local acts that have come to call Bleach* home.
We open our doors to a number of long-admired first-time creative collaborators, including Berlin-based theatre company Rimini Protokoll, American rock legend Brian Ritchie, sound artist Lawrence English, Fiji’s VOU and Kev Carmody.
On behalf of the hard-working Bleached Arts team, we invite you to be part of Bleach* Festival as we open up the city and our homes at this extraordinary moment in time. Visit bleachfestival.com.au for more information.
