The Countdown is on to Melb Cup …the Race That Stops the Nation!!!!

For those that are lucky enough to have a function at work or have a client taking you out – I hope you have your outfits just about ready, because let me tell you - fascinators are a rarity at least 2 weeks out to the race!!! My golden rule – Be prepared!!!!  A few tips…

1.     Keep your assets away. Whilst it may be appropriate to flaunt your stuff at the beach, the races are definitely not the place. The races are your chance however to flaunt that style goddess sitting within. Conservative and Classic are always the best way to go and don’t forget a touch of femininity, seriously no matter what they say, the guys love it when we look like women.

2.     Dress for comfort. Although those killer heels may look amazing, go for a mid height heel as there is nothing worse than your feet aching. Worse cases if you simply can’t do without those heels, pack a pair of ballet flats in your bag.

3.     Speaking of bags, whilst clutches are great if you have sensible shoes on, if you’re needing to take a pair of flats with you, don’t oversize the bag. Oversized bags are hot, don’t get me wrong, but not for race day!

4.     Makeup – Keep it fresh, natural and simple.  Ula natural is best. If you haven’t discovered mineral makeup yet, try and get your hands on some. There are many varieties out there; my fav is ID from NY – available at Myer and DJ’s. Otherwise pop along to your local Priceline store.

5.     Jewellery – Do not over accessorise!!! Hoop earrings, oh, SO not for the races, girls. A nice simple drop earring or stud is much more appropriate and less likely to get caught on anything!!! Mimco has some divine jewellery, but if you’re on a budget Diva and Sportsgirl are the way to go.

If you still don’t have any idea what to wear, book an apt with a stylist at your local shopping centre – Robina or Pac Fair, but get in quick. And don’t assume you have to fork out a fortune for a new outfit, stylists’ work within whatever budget you set.
If you’ve got it going on, I look forward to seeing you on the Best Dressed parade, some of the best looks are born out of eclectic individuality – but the golden rule…. don’t over do it.

Now, just finally, for those that are yet to decide on what to do, my 2 best picks are:

1.     The Gold Coast Turf Club  – check out everything going on… you will feel like you are trackside at Flemmington. www.goldcoastturf.com.au

2.     Adrenalin (Australia Fair) are also putting on a Melb Cup Fashion Parade and lunch, at Spendlove, Ferry Rd Markets. Tickets available from Spendlove, Adrenalin @ Southport or by calling Adrenalin on 07 55916355.
