Trinny and Susannah : the verdict |
October 19, 2009 08:21 AM
Well the verdict is in; it’s time to go… Trinny & Susannah! …Literally, it was!
I made the trek up to Chermside yesterday afternoon (a good hour and a ¼) with a friend to give these ladies the opportunity to razzle dazzle me. As much as I hate to say it, I left disillusioned and a quite disappointed.
The MC of the afternoon was Jane from MMM in Brisbane (I think?). Jane kept the crowds entertained whilst we waited for the glamour queens to arrive; yes they were fashionably late (it was about the only fashionable aspect of the afternoon).
Jane promoted the girls latest books encouraging the crowd to pop down to Boarders to grab the latest copies whilst we were waiting. We were told because it was their last show, they were not in a hurry to leave, and would be happy to wait around and sign autographs and have photo’s… which was the case for about 4 minutes - until their posse rustled the ladies together and said “Come on, we have to get to the airport for our flight back to London” With that, they signed a couple more autographs on their way out and ‘POOF!’ they were whisked away, leaving many disappointed fans that had gone to buy their new book lost for words. I was tempted to sign on their behalf and introduce myself and offer my services, but having just come from the Coolangatta Gold, thought I better not!
As I said last week, don’t get me wrong - I am all for women encouraging women to get out there and dress with style, show off their assets / bodies (when appropriate), boost confidence and make women feel terrific about themselves - but I’m not a fan of T & S grabbing other ladies boobs on stage (clearly making some of them feel most uncomfortable). I also draw the line at the numerous times the word “shit’ and “pissed” were used, especially when there were many impressionable young women in the crowd. If you missed catching them on their Aussie tour, you can feel like you were there by reading their blog at trinnyandsusannah.com - you’ll understand exactly what I mean!
On behalf of all the fashion loving, stylish women in Australia, I apologise because I really do not think they showcased the best of what fashion in Australia (let alone Westfield) has to offer.
And to that woman in the Indigo dress - who clearly couldn’t believe what they had put her in, I hope you are ok - you looked lovely in your jeans and cream cami beforehand.
Come on Aussie women, surely we don’t need these 2 English ladies to tell us how to dress, let’s look in our own back yard and all the wonderful styling talent we have here. It is easy to turn a woman who has popped out to the shopping centre in her glad rags into Cinderella - how many women go to shopping centres looking like they are on their way to the races or a ball??? It would have been much more beneficial to have talked to the audience about the casual attire they can wear everyday that will suit their bodies not about a one off outfit they can wear if and when they have the chance.
Ok, I’ve ranted enough, sorry had to get that off my chest – I never like finishing all fired up, so on a great note, go grab the latest copy of Madison Mag – haven’t read it in a while and was blown away – read it cover to cover. It’s all about your body, colour, Fashion Magic and the note from the Editor says it all. Well done Madison – Great Issue!
Till next time
