Quality vs Quantity

Apologies for no love last week, I was tucked up in hospital having one of the smallest, most useless but most incredibly painful parts of my body removed. Yes my appendix, the one I wished and wished would have burst when I was 15 (so I could have had a week off school) finally decided it was time. My husband was away, and I was home alone, so hey why not?

Needless to say, hospital is definitely not a place for fashion!! I’d love to know the reason for those tissue paper like undies - and why they are still in existence? Surely there is nothing wrong with 100% cotton being worn?

So, I’m out of hospital, not back at work, but taking it easy. Yes, I AM actually taking it easy. I’m enjoying the change of pace, catching up on reading and not doing a lot. Funny how your body slows you down sometimes isn't it?
I must admit, I’m not missing being part of the crowds that are currently buzzing round the shops pre-chrissy.

Anyway - In a world made for the consumer how does one resist so many wonderful pieces of clothing that tempt us every single day? Perhaps it’s easier for those that aren’t confronted with the latest and greatest of what’s in store every day, but for me it’s been a long and challenging process learning how to shop smartly and that quality over quantity is the key! Less really is more!

Many of my clients have astounded me with how many of their clothes they actually don’t wear. I’m serious! They have a HUGE section of their wardrobe with clothes that still have tags attached and a small section in the corner that they wear frequently. What’s funny is how quickly they are prepared to get rid of the clothes with tags still attached and how good they feel when they are gone. We actually totaled the price of clothes (with tags still attached). You will never believe the amount $3127. Need I say more!?

As the silly sales season approaches, think twice before buying something just because it is on sale. Ok if it’s a Carla Zampatti, Mela Purdie or Ginger & Smart piece dramatically reduced, you have my blessing, but make sure it still fits you and you look and feel amazing in it!

Each one of us expresses our style through our appearance every day. What’s your style? Finding your style might help you spend your hard earned money wisely and end up with less impulse purchases and more lifelong purchases that you love.

Next week I’ll help you find your style!

By the way just quickly I learnt this week that Mela Purdie started her career with Carla Zampatti. Goes to show why she’s creating such beautiful garments, having worked with one of the best, doesn’t it?

Till next week, stay wise – and I promise it feels much better to leave that impulse purchase in the store and come home with money still in your wallet than another dress or top that doesn’t make you look like Jennifer Aniston!
