The next BIG thing in fashion |

What a busy week last week was! Friday, I had the pleasure of being invited to assist with the judging of the submissions of “The Next Big Thing in Fashion” at Sanctuary Cove. What a hard task it was! There were some amazing entries, which made choosing 6 finalists quite tough. Entries included swimwear, children’s wear, bridal, couture and womenswear fashion. The “Next Big Thing in Fashion” is a Gold Coast Competition designed to provide an opportunity for student and emerging designers to promote their labels to the general public and be the “Next Big Thing in Fashion.”
The 6 finalists who will be announced in tomorrow’s GC Bulletin have the opportunity to sell their designers in a “GROUP SPACE” at Sanctuary Cove Marine Village for 3 weeks from the 9th to the 27th March.
Finalists will then have the opportunity to present their collections during a dinner event at Sanctuary Cove on March 27 where the overall winner will be announced - “Next Big Thing in Fashion” presented by Sanctuary Cove.
The winner will be selected from the 6 finalists through a combination of:
· Public online voting
· In-store voting
· Panel vote
The winning label will have sole use of the shop space for the entire month of April.
The winner will also receive:
· Return airfare from Gold Coast to Melbourne
· 5 nights’ accommodation in Melbourne
· Booth space at the Fashion Exposed event in Melbourne in August 2010
There is some serious talent on the Coast and with the level of applications received this year, I think its going to become an annual event that will get bigger and bigger each year. For more details check out gcfashionincubator.org.au and grab a copy of todays GC Bulletin.
