Bonjur or at this time of the afternoon should I say Selamat Sore. I am sorry for the lack of love over the past 2 weeks, I have been catching up on some much deserved time off with great friends in Bali….such a magical place and might I add, not bad on the shopping front either. To my absolute delight I discovered a new attraction Discovery Mall – the newest home to one of the Gold Coasts much loved Surf Retailers Billabong and……….yes here it comes TOPSHOP….ok now don’t fall off your seat or book a trip there tomorrow because of TOPSHOP, the shop is small and has nothing on the Oxford Streets Flagship store, but it was a nice surprise to discover. A few other local gems popping up here and there too - more on them in the coming weeks.

So, in my absence, the night of nights…OSCARS. I was doing my best to catch glimpses of the wonders and why’s when I could (in between my Passionfruit Caprioscas and $10 massages). So, what did you think about who wore what? The Oscars are a funny night. Interesting that Brangelina chose not to make an appearance. Anyway, my favourites of the night - SJP in classy and classic Chanel Couture,  Sandra Bullock in her Marchesa gown – simply stunning, she certainly has come along way from Speed and Miss Congeniality. Maggie Gyllenhaal took digital print to a new level. Her dress by Dries Van Noten was beautiful. Meryl Streep certainly has aged with so much grace and elegance as has Helen Mirren. Demi more in the apricot neutral hued Atelier Versace also looked sensational!!!

Cameron Diaz, whilst I love embellishment, I think it was a little overdone, she reminded me of one of those golden leaf trees my nan use to have. Jennifer Lopez didn’t do justice to herself, neither did Penelope Cruz. Sigourney Weaver in Lanvin a very Grecian goddess dress - very last year although the strategically placed ribbon around her waist did give a point of distraction to the dress but it certainly wasnt the worst. That certainly had to go to Vera Farmiga in Marchesa?? Sometimes risks do not pay off.

So that was the Oscars for another year….closer to home things are hot hot hotting up. The Winner of the Gold Coast’s Next Big thing in Fashion will be announced on 27th  March at Sanctuary Cove. Prior to that though, I’m off to the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival for the week next week. I Can’t wait. It’s one of my favorite events of the year. The team at LMFF does such an amazing job in getting a wonderful and inspiring calendar of events together.

Oh, one more thing, have you seen the new season stock filling the stores…….Love love love witchery’s new campaign…..Review has also kicked off a new era everywhere you turn they are being featured in editorials and Country Road, still very much up there.

Must fly, Exciting days of fashion lie ahead.

xx
