AICD Diploma of Styling |

There are many wonderful things in life. Clothes, fashion, style, shopping, shopping and oh more shopping. I feel incredibly lucky I am able to earn a living from doing something I love – helping educate men and women on what to wear. There is nothing quite like the satisfying feeling of having a client walk away from a Personal Shopping session with a new found confidence.
In addition to my gorgeous clients, this year, I decided to try my hand at teaching. Although, I use to teach the Bronze Medallion at Bondi Surf Club a few years back, this time I opted to delve into the world of the Gen Y’s and tackle the Diploma of Styling at the Australian Institute of Creative Design on the GC. I must admit, it’s always a little daunting. First class... what will the students be like? Are they going to relate to me? What to wear (yes even I sometimes wonder what to wear – I mean after all as much as you dress for yourself when walking into a room full of Gen Y’s the first thing they will do is look you up and down and as the old saying goes, you never get a second chance to make a first impression!)
I was however very pleasantly surprised. The group of girls I have the pleasure of guiding and mentoring on their way to becoming world-class stylist…. are without a doubt incredibly talented (or maybe it’s just they have a dam good teacher…ha-ha). I am though, seriously a very lucky woman. Although I only have 11 students in my class, each week they continue to blow me away. Their continued creativity has well and truly exceeded the expectations I had of them so early in the course! Over the past couple of weeks, the girls have undertaken a flat lay shoot, client makeover and this week an inspired shoot, whereby they were to create a shoot without any guidance of a scene that inspired them. I have attached a couple of photo’s on thefashionplayground.com/blog gallery as there were too many to post to this blog – let’s just say I was impressed, incredibly impressed.
For anyone interested in becoming a stylist, wanting to learn about Fashion Business Management, Makeup, Hair, Design – feel free to email me and I am happy to talk to you about the abundance of courses being offered by AICD. Alternatively check out the AICD at www.aicdedu.com.au
