Boat burns to the waterline after being consumed by fire

A MAN has sadly lost everything he owns after his houseboat went up in flames on the Gold Coast.

The vessel was completely destroyed in the blaze, which engulfed the boat at Jacobs Well about 9am.

A 60-year-old man lost everything on board to the fire, which burned the vessel to the waterline.

Nine News reporter Isabelle Mullen was first on the scene and said witnesses heard an explosion before the fire consumed the boat about 800m from the Jacobs Well Boat ramp.

Thankfully, the man who lives on the vessel was not on board at the time.

It is not yet known what sparked the blaze.
