Body found inside home after suspicious fire

HOMICIDE detectives are investigating the discovery of a body, found inside a house in country Victoria.

Firefighters made the grim find after extinguishing a “small fire” at the Kenworthy Place home in Mount Pleasant about 8am on Friday.

It was not immediately known how the person died, but Victoria Police said the death was being treated as suspicious and confirmed the Homicide Squad had taken over the investigation.


Neighbours reportedly heard ‘lots of yelling and screaming” coming from the home early in the morning.

“The fire was extinguished and a search of the property uncovered the deceased person inside,” Victoria Police said in a statement.

The gender and age of the deceased person are not known.
