Body found in ute burnt-out in bushland near Pacific Motorway in NSW

A BODY has been found inside a burnt-out ute abandoned on the side of a dirt road in the NSW Hunter region.

The vehicle was found parked in dense bushland near the M1 at Lake Macquarie around 10.30 on Thursday morning.

The badly burnt body was found in the driver’s seat of the vehicle on Archery Road at Wakefield, near Barnsley.

The lonely stretch of road has been turned into a crime scene and is crawling with detectives.

Forensics are on the scene, examining the body which is yet to be identified. The cause of death remains unknown.

No further information was available at the time of writing.
