Bottle shop robbed at gunpoint

POLICE are still hunting for two gunmen after a bottle shop in Helensvale was robbed on Saturday night.

Two men, each armed with firearms, entered the Thirsty Camel store on Monterey Key Drive at around 7.30pm and threatened a female employee whom had both firearms pointed at her while demands were made.

The pair managed to obtain a sum of cash and a bottle of alcohol before fleeing on foot.

Thankfully, the firearms were not discharged and no one was physically injured during the incident.

The police helicopter was called in to assist ground crews in their attempts to locate the offenders, however were unsuccessful.

One of the two men is described as being Caucasian in appearance, approximately 170cm tall with a slim build, dark brown hair, and brown eyes.

The second is described as being Caucasian in appearance, approximately 175cm tall with a proportionate build.

Investigations into the incident are continuing.
