Boy, 13, accused of robbing taxi driver

A 13-YEAR-OLD boy is being questioned by police after he and another boy, aged 17, allegedly robbed a taxi driver on the Gold Coast overnight.

Police said the boys caught a cab from the Esplanade in Paradise Point to a service station on Broadwater Avenue at Hope Island about 1.30am.

When they arrived at the servo, it’s alleged one of the boys claimed he and his mate were armed and demanded money from the 39-year-old driver.

The teens allegedly snatched the driver’s bag and ran off but their time on the run was short lived.

Police were called and used the dog squad to sniff out the boys.

They were found on Crescent Avenue a short time later and are currently assisting police with their inquiries.
