Boy, 15, charged with serious assault of person over 60

A 15-YEAR-OLD has been charged after allegedly slamming a 60-year-old woman into a wall at a shopping centre in Townsville.

Police said the woman caught the boy snooping through drawers in an employee only area of the shopping centre on Hervey Range Road about 9.30am.

When confronted by the woman, who works at the shopping centre, it’s alleged the boy jumped onto a chair and pushed her heavily into a wall.

Police said the impact left the woman with head and wrist injuries.

The boy left the shop and was found a short time later at an address on Sandstone Drive.

After allegedly obstructing a police officer, the teen was arrested and charged with serious assault of a person over 60.

He was also charged with two counts of entering a premises and one count each of trespass and obstruct police.
