Boy charged with assisting in armed robbery

A 17-YEAR-OLD boy has been arrested and charged with armed robbery after allegedly helping a man hold-up a servo at gunpoint in Brisbane.

The pair allegedly strolled into the servo on Redbank Plains Road at Redbank Plains about 7.40pm last night and demanded cash.

Allegedly armed with a gun, the pair took a quantity of cash from the register and fled the store in a vehicle a short time later.

Their time on the run, however, was short lived, with police locating and arresting the pair nearby 30 minutes later.

The 21-year-old man and 17-year-old boy have since been charged with one count each of armed robbery.

The man will front Ipswich Magistrates Court on October 15 while the boy will appear in a children’s court.
