It’s going to be another sunny, warm one today, with 32C forecast for Nerang and 31C at Coomera.
There’ll be some relief on the beach, with 28C expected for Surfers Paradise and 26C at Coolangatta.
But the mercury is set to soar on Wednesday ahead of an approaching surface trough.
Fans and air conditioners should get a work out, with a hot top of 36C tipped for inland suburbs such as Nerang and Coomera.
The coast is also expected to surpass the 30C mark, with 32C forecast for Surfers.
The heat will be short lived though as a high pressure system over Victoria pushes a fresh southerly wind change up the southeast coast during the afternoon.
The Bureau says some showers will be possible near or behind the southerly change, which’ll bring with it partly cloudy and cooler conditions.
Daytime temperatures will drop back to around 24-26C for the rest of the week, before winds start to shift back from the north over the weekend.
