Broadbeach Waters residents find armed man in their home

UPDATE @ 1.30 PM | A MAN has been remanded in custody after being charged over the attempted armed robbery of residents at a home in Broadbeach Waters overnight.

The 25-year-old broke into a house on Fremar Drive armed with a knife sometime between the hours of 10.00pm and 1.30am.

The man then made demands for money before he was confronted by a 38-year-old man in the home and fled the scene.

He was later tracked down in a neighbouring house and arrested by police.

The man, who police say is from Broadbeach, was charged with three counts of attempted robbery with violence whilst armed and one count of burglary and commit an indictable offence.

He didn’t appear in Southport Court today and didn’t apply for bail.

He’s been remanded to next appear on October 9.

EARLIER @ 8.15 AM | A MAN is in custody after the attempted armed robbery of residents at a home in Broadbeach Waters overnight.

Police say the 25-year-old is believed to have entered the house on Fremar Drive armed with a knife sometime between the hours of 10pm and 1.30am.

The man then made demands for money before he was confronted by a 38-year-old man in the home and fled the scene.

He was later tracked down in a neighbouring house and arrested by police.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
