Bushfire to burn into the night

FIREFIGHTERS will spend the night on the scene of a bushfire burning in the Scenic Rim.

The blaze broke out near Left Hand Branch and Kerry Roads at Darlington on Wednesday afternoon and will continue to burn, under the watchful eye of crews throughout the night.

Authorities have advised that while the fire is still burning, it is posing no threat to property.

Firefighters will monitor the progress of the fire overnight before backburning on Thursday.

The fire is likely to produce a large smoke haze overnight.

Residents in the area have tbeen told to keep their windows and doors closed and if suffering from a respiratory condition, keep medications close by.

Motorists should drive with caution and to conditions.

If residents are concerned their property is under threat they are advised to call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
